Patient Reference Group

Are you interested in helping us to improve our service? Or do you have ideas about how we could do things better?

There are lots of ways you could get involved!

  • Fill in one of our GP Patient Survey forms when we are circulating them.
  • Make suggestions regarding what you would like to see in on our quarterly Patient Newsletters
  • Fill in one of our Comments / Compliments / Suggestion forms
  • Join our Patient Reference Group

In October 2011 we launched a Patient Reference Group to give people the opportunity to work with us to improve services at the practice.

Patients from all age groups, social and cultural backgrounds were invited to join the group.

We had a tremendous response and now have a group of patients involved who reflect our practice population and who represent the interests of our local community.

Patient involvement is either by attending quarterly Group Meetings at the practice or by being part of a

Virtual Panel receiving several emails during the year asking for feedback.

Our aim is to discuss topics of mutual interest with the group. We then work together to develop an action plan and give feedback to all patients about what involvement work we have undertaken.

The group is part of a wider patient involvement strategy that provides patients and carers with different ways to feedback to the practice.

It is not be an opportunity for people who want to complain about the practice. If patients have a specific complaint, they should contact the Practice Manager and follow the practice complaints process.

  • A PRG Terms of Reference Document and Mission Statement are in place.
  • Minutes of the meetings are displayed on our website or are available for viewing at the practice.
  • Regular updates of the group’s activities and meeting dates are included in our quarterly ‘FMC News’ Patient Newsletters.
  • An annual PRG report is written and displayed - both on our website and in the practice (first one due out Autumn 2012).

We presently have a full group running but if you are interested in being involved please ask for an invitation form which should be completed and returned to us. The Practice Manager will then retain your details on file and contact you when a place becomes available.

Remember – you can always complete one of our Comments / Compliments / Suggestion forms at any time to let us know your comments or ideas.

You can find minutes of the Patient Reference Group meetings here.
