Increase in Measles

Measles is extremely infectious and can be serious. The main symptoms of measles are:

  • Rash
  • Temperature
  • Runny nose
  • Red eyes
  • Cough


Children have two MMR vaccines, the first at 1 year old and the second at 3 years 4 months. If you or your children missed these vaccines, it is not too late. Please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment for the vaccination.

Non-urgent advice: Call 999 or go to A&E if:

You or your child has measles and:

– shortness of breath

– a high temperature that does not come down after taking paracetamol or ibuprofen

– confusion

– seizures (fits)
